MoMA Private Tour in Italian: Price and Group Size
The price is calculated per group, starts at $825 and covers the private guide, admission tickets for everyone and the tip, so there is nothing to add on the day. With online booking the group ranges from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 25 participants, with children counted in the total; for 26 people or more, the price is agreed by writing to info@ilmioviaggioanewyork.com.
To put the price in context, on our site the MoMA admission ticket alone starts at $30 for an adult and is free for children under 16. With the tour, the tickets for every participant are already taken care of.
Date and Time: How Confirmation Works
The tour is available every day, subject to MoMA’s availability. When you buy, you choose the date, while the time is to be confirmed: the date and time you select are indicative. After the purchase we check the museum’s availability and send you the final date and time of the visit; if your first choice is not available, we contact you to agree on an alternative.
Our tip
Have one or two alternative dates, or a backup time slot, ready before you book. If your first choice cannot be confirmed, switching to the second takes a moment and you keep the day you had planned for MoMA.
Your booking is confirmed for a specific date and time only after our confirmation message. It must be made at least 14 days in advance; for last-minute requests or to check a specific date or time, write to info@ilmioviaggioanewyork.com. Before and after your purchase we reply during business hours, and behind Il Mio Viaggio a New York there is a physical office a few blocks from Times Square, at number 324 on West 47th Street.

The Four Routes of the Italian-Language MoMA Guided Tour
When you book, choose one of these routes. The artworks listed depend on what is on display that day: if one is not on view, the guide replaces it with another significant work from the collection.
1. I capolavori della collezione del MoMA (Masterpieces of the MoMA collection)
The route for first-time visitors who want to see the most celebrated works in the collection. You will stand in front of paintings you know from books, with a few surprises in scale: The Starry Night measures 73.7 by 92.1 centimeters, while the melting clocks of The Persistence of Memory fit on a canvas of just 24.1 by 33 centimeters, both according to the museum’s collection records. Masterpieces the tour may include:
- Vincent van Gogh, The Starry Night, 1889
- Pablo Picasso, Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, 1907
- Claude Monet, Water Lilies, 1914-26
- Salvador Dalí, The Persistence of Memory, 1931
- Andy Warhol, Campbell’s Soup Cans, 1962
The visit may also include works by Frida Kahlo, Giorgio de Chirico, Edward Hopper, Jackson Pollock and other leading figures of modern art. Recommended for adults, families and first-time MoMA visitors.
2. I capolavori della collezione del MoMA 1880-1950 (Masterpieces 1880-1950)
A journey through the great artistic revolutions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with a focus on Post-Impressionism, Cubism, Futurism and Surrealism: a deep look at the new avant-garde movements that revolutionized the art world in the early twentieth century. Artworks and artists on this route:
- Paul Gauguin, The Seed of the Areoi, 1892
- Georges-Pierre Seurat, Evening, Honfleur, 1886
- Henri Matisse, The Red Studio, 1911
- Umberto Boccioni, Dynamism of a Soccer Player, 1913
- Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, The Riot in Milan, 1914
- Pablo Picasso, Three Musicians, 1921
- Salvador Dalí, The Persistence of Memory, 1931
- Leonora Carrington, Green Tea, 1942
With Boccioni and Marinetti, this is where your guide tells the story of Italian Futurism in Italian. Recommended for adults and families who want to explore the birth and development of the artistic avant-garde.
3. I capolavori della collezione del MoMA 1950-oggi (Masterpieces 1950 to Today)
The route dedicated to postwar and contemporary art, to understand how artistic language changed radically from the mid-twentieth century to the present. The visit covers leading figures and movements of the period, including Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Lucio Fontana, Yoko Ono, Lutz Bacher and 1980s America. Recommended for adults, families and contemporary art lovers.
4. MoMA Kids - Tour privato per famiglie (Private Family Tour)
A route designed mainly for younger visitors that keeps the whole family engaged. The guide leads children and adults through some of MoMA’s most iconic masterpieces with simple, engaging storytelling suited to kids, turning the museum visit into a fun and stimulating experience. Artworks on this route:
- Claude Monet, Water Lilies, 1914-26
- Vincent van Gogh, The Starry Night, 1889
- Umberto Boccioni, Dynamism of a Soccer Player, 1913
- Pablo Picasso, Three Musicians, 1921
- Giorgio de Chirico, Gare Montparnasse (The Melancholy of Departure), 1914
- Salvador Dalí, The Persistence of Memory, 1931
- Jackson Pollock, Number 1A, 1948
- Mark Rothko, No. 5 / No. 22, 1950
- Andy Warhol, Campbell’s Soup Cans, 1962
Recommended for families with children who want to approach art in a simple, accessible and engaging way.
The Personalized Route
Is there an artist or an artwork you really want to see? On request, the route can be tailored to your interests. Let us know well in advance: we need time to check that the works are on view and to organize the visit properly.
Guided Tour or Ticket Only: What Changes
At MoMA, on your own, it is easy to go up and down between floors chasing the map. With a guide, the hour has a thread, and you set that thread when you choose your route.
- The route follows a clear theme, from the avant-garde to the postwar years, instead of a sequence of galleries.
- Your questions get answered on the spot, in Italian, including the ones the wall label does not cover.
- The pace is set by your group: with children, on the MoMA Kids route, the storytelling adapts to the youngest.
- Replacements are already handled: if a work is on loan or being restored, the guide suggests another one from the collection.
- After the tour the museum is yours: when the hour is over, you already know where to go back for the rest of the day.
If you would rather explore the museum on your own, at your pace and without a guide, all you need is the MoMA admission ticket, which we also sell on its own.

Important
The artworks listed in the routes are subject to MoMA’s availability and installations on the day of the visit: some may be temporarily off view, on loan, being restored or in galleries that are temporarily closed, in which case the guide replaces them with other significant works from the collection. The date and time selected are indicative and subject to confirmation. The company accepts no liability for any damage, injury or loss of items during the tour; by purchasing the tour you declare that you have read and accept the product’s terms and conditions and the site’s general terms and conditions.
