Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Tickets: Price and Booking

The adult rate starts at $39 and the rate for children aged 3 to 11 at $29. Online prices vary with the season and availability, so the up-to-date figure is the one you see in the booking calendar. The ticket stays valid for one year from purchase and is non-refundable, so it makes sense to buy it once your travel dates are set.

Buying online saves you the line at the physical ticket counters, which at Pier 86 gets longest on summer weekends and during school holidays. If other visits are on your list for the same trip, all our New York attraction tickets are on one page, so you can plan your days without wasting time in queues.

Book Smartly

Weekday afternoons generally offer a more relaxed atmosphere, with fewer visitors in the exhibition halls. For any question before and after purchase, Il Mio Viaggio a New York supports you from its office at 324 W 47th St, near Times Square, with customer support in English during business hours and secure credit card payment.

What Tickets for the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Include

General admission opens every main area of this floating museum:

  • Aircraft carrier USS Intrepid: the flight deck with its aircraft on display and the ship’s interior, from the original decks to the crew compartments and the command room.
  • Submarine Growler: moored next to the carrier and open inside.
  • Space Shuttle Pavilion: the pavilion that houses Space Shuttle Enterprise.
  • Temporary exhibitions: every exhibition running on the day of your visit.
  • Audio guide: free on the Bloomberg Connects app, to download on your phone before you arrive.

Flight simulators, 3D and 4D films, virtual reality and the 20-minute guided tour inside Concorde are not included and are paid separately on site.

What to See with Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Tickets

The visit starts on the flight deck of a 265-meter ship, where fighter jets once prepared for takeoff: today it displays authentic military aircraft that trace the evolution of aviation in the twentieth century, each with explanatory panels and testimonies from pilots and veterans. Commissioned in 1943, the carrier served through World War II and the Cold War, recovered the crews of a Mercury and a Gemini mission and became a museum in 1982.

Going down into the interior, you walk the original decks, the crew compartments and the command room, and feel from the inside the scale of an ocean-going war machine.

Moored next to the ship is the submarine Growler, the only American guided-missile submarine open to the public: its narrow, almost claustrophobic corridors show what daily life was like for sailors during the Cold War.

Our tip

Head to Growler as soon as you enter. The line for the submarine can close up to one hour before the museum closes, and it is the part of the visit you are most likely to miss if you leave it for last.

The highlight remains the Space Shuttle Pavilion, home to Enterprise, the first orbiter built by NASA: it was used for atmospheric flight tests and never went to space. Interactive exhibits and original footage tell what the space age meant, taking you on a journey from World War II to the frontiers of exploration.

On the pier, outside the ship, stands the British Airways Concorde: you can see the outside at any time, while the inside can only be visited on the paid guided tour. To place the museum within a fuller day, our organized New York tours help you combine it with stops in Midtown and along the Hudson waterfront.

Pier 86 is about a twenty-minute walk from Times Square. Book your tickets and step aboard one of the most unique museums in NYC.

Single Ticket or Pass: Which to Choose

The Intrepid is included in both the New York CityPASS and the New York Pass. A single ticket is the most direct choice if you plan to see only a few attractions, while a pass becomes interesting when the museum is one stop among many: you can compare them among our tourist passes.
